Yoga in the Park

Free Community Yoga | August 18, 2018 || 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

The Avon Recreation Center offers free yoga on Saturdays throughout the summer with certified yoga instructors from around the Vail Valley. Start your weekend on the right foot…then the left…by stretching and energizing your whole body on the picturesque Performance Pavilion Terrace overlooking Nottingham Lake.

Pitmaster BBQ & Music Festival | August 18, 2018 || 12:30 - 9:30 p.m.

This special event will bring up to six of America’s best award-winning masters of Pit cooking of smoked flavored meats and live country, rock, and blues music from today’s known local and national artists. The festival brings together unique regional tastes of barbecue from southern vinegar-based sauce to dry rubs and combined it with Coloradoan’s favorite foods, craft beers and spirits, and other favorites.

Event activities include learning to make Colorado Cocktail drinks to family backyard games, from learning about the art of grilling for family and friends to exploring PITStations throughout the festival grounds with activities and product sampling.

Summer Scurry Junior Duathlon | August 20, 2018 || 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

This is new event promises to be super fun and super free. Bring your little (ages 5-8) on over the historic Nottingham Cabin and enter them into the Summer Scurry while you prep yourself for the 14th annual Dunk-N-Dash Race Series. Participants will navigate their way around the new Nottingham Park playground and field first on foot and then by bike as there compete for a personal best time of the summer. All participants will be entered to win some great raffle prizes. No Striders please as the course will not be marshaled. Registration opens at 5:00 p.m. ahead of a 6:00 start.

Dunk N' Dash | August 20, 2018 || 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Nottingham Lake is back and better than ever this summer! The Avon Recreation Department provides the only open water swim in the valley. It's a perfect way to train for your first (or third) outdoor triathlon. Just be sure to bring a wetsuit - the water can be chilly! 
  • Fee:$5 per person
  • Check-in at the Avon Performance Pavilion
  • Average water temp. is between 60 - 68 degrees, wet suits recommended
  • Must be 15 years of age with parental release
  • For your safety - lifeguard staff and distance buoys will be provided

Lake Street Market | August 22 || 4:00 p.m. to Dusk

Live Music: KT & The Modulators || Community Yoga | 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

The Lake Street Market takes place on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer (with no market on July 4). Local vendors will sell fresh produce, local meat and eggs, artisan goods and street food. The event will include a beer garden, with happy hour pricing on beer and wine from 4 - 6 p.m., and community yoga from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. The lettuce patch (kids zone) will entertain the littles, and weekly live music will entertain everyone!

Cardboard Boat Regatta

Cardboard Boat Regatta | August 25 || 11:00 a.m.

Registration opens at 10:30 a.m.

Kids and adults are welcome to participate in the Avon’s second annual cardboard boat regatta on Saturday, August 25th. Cardboard boats will be put to the test racing across Nottingham Lake. Boats will race in heats based on the age of the crew; judges will determine the winners of these categories:

  • Fastest Boat (must finish race)
  • Most Creative Design
  • Most Dramatic Sinking
  • Crowd Favorite

Pop Up Concert | August 25 || 12:00 p.m.

These 90-minute concerts take place May - September, and they allow locals and guests a time to unwind and relax with live classical and contemporary music. Refreshing beverages are available each evening, and these performances bring an eclectic array of musical styles, from classical strings to Spanish guitars, all performed by musicians from Colorado’s most esteemed symphonies and philharmonics.
